Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda mentioned in his policy speech on Jun 18th in 2008 that Japan would lead the international community by converting itself into a "low carbon society" which would serve as a precedent for the world to emulate. Based on it, 10 cities should be selected as “Eco-Model Cities,” which challenge the ambitious target of GHG emissions reduction, and realize the Eco-Model City in cooperate with local governments. Therefore, we will invite the proposals of Eco-Model City.
