Town of Yusuhara is the town with 4 thousands population, located in the headwaters area of the Shimanto River and 90% of area is covered by the forest. The town has been utilizing mercy of nature over 10 years. For example, the wind turbine installed on Shikoku Karst provided the town the interest which enabled the dense installation of Solar power system on 5% houses roof and 6,000 ha forest maintenance which serves as a sink of CO2. In addition, the wood pellet production through the cooperation among the public and business sectors established the new resource recycling system. Yusuhara, “the town above the clouds,” proceeds toward the low-carbon town friendly to nature and creature.
