Iida city is taking actions against various environmental problems through the cooperation among regional sectors including businesses, citizens, NPOs, and so on, aiming at “City of Environmental Culture.” Especially, the city realized Japan’s first solar power project funded by a Citizen’s Fund. Fusing the know-how of urban planning in city center including district re-development into the actions so far, the city will realize the consumption of locally produced energy from the sun and the forest.
